Important Note: Crayola Experience in Plano, Texas is permanently closed as of February 6, 2026. Locations still in operation are in:

  • Easton, PA – Crayola Experience’s flagship location
  • Orlando, FL – in the Florida Mall
  • Bloomington, MN – at Mall of America

This blog post is about the location in Plano, TX. It can give you a sense of what you might experience at Crayola Experience, but it may have experiences than other locations. We went to Crayola Experience in Easton, PA when my daughter was young and enjoyed that location too.

About Crayola Experience

Crayola Experience was one of the first attractions we visited when we moved to the suburbs of Dallas, Texas. We visited the one located in Plano, located north of Dallas. My son was 4, and my daughter was 10 at the time. Although Crayola Experience is known for being geared towards younger kids, even my older one had a great time!

We showed up at the Crayola Experience in Plano not knowing what to expect. I figured there would be some coloring, some crayon supplies to explore, and lots and lots of primary colors everywhere… and probably a gift shop. Other than that, I had no idea what it was all about.

Our first visit to Crayola Experience was in 2021, hence the masks, but you won’t need them. Below is the parking garage at the Shops at Willow Bend. The signs make it easy to park near the Crayola Experience entrance!

Since that first visit, we’ve visited again because my kids had fun, and although they were older the second time we went, they still had a good time. Crayola Experience is a great thing to do on a cold, hot, or rainy day since it’s located indoors. There are lots of areas to explore… let’s get into it!

What To Expect at Crayola Experience

So, what can you expect at the Crayola Experience? First, let’s talk about some of the logistics.

Location

Crayola Experience Plano is located inside a mall – The Shops at Willow Bend. The great thing about being located at the mall is that there are places to browse before and after your trip if you’re looking to do some shopping or eat at some of the eateries at the mall. The address for Crayola Experience is:

Crayola Experience
6121 W. Park Blvd, Suite A100
Plano, TX 75093

Adults get one too, so you can participate in the activities with your kids or give your kids a second chance at the activites with your token.

This was a sculpture made entirely of crayons! What a feat!

The Attractions

There are so many different attractions and activities to explore, so I can’t list them all, but I’ve highlighted the ones we enjoyed and spent enough time on to take photos.

Wrap It Up

The first attraction you’ll probably start with is the Wrap It Up area, where you create and label your own crayon! It’s located just past the entrance, so start there.

My kids had so much fun because you get to customize your own crayon label. Choose the color crayon you’d like by choosing the station with the color you want, and use the token given to you with your admission ticket to start the process of making your crayon label.

On the screen, you can choose an icon, type in your name, and watch the machine print it on a crayon label.

You get a crayon and a crayon label to take with you to the next area, where you can have the label put onto your crayon.

A token to create a personalized crayon is included with your ticket (for adults, too). You can purchase additional tokens for $0.50 if you want to make more custom crayons!

Be a Star

One of the fun areas I enjoyed myself was the Be a Star area, where you can create a personal coloring page with a photo of you on it! You can choose a background and then just pose in front of a photo booth and turn your photo into a coloring page!

It feels like a personal souvenir that timestamps the age your kids were at the time you went by, creating a coloring page of their face. I think I photocopied mine at home before I let my kids draw on them.

It’s so fun to see yourself and your kids as a coloring page! And the best part is that you can make more than one version!

Drip Art

As the name suggests, you can create drip art by dropping melted colored wax from a crayon on a spinning wheel with paper on top. You get a fun art souvenir of your melted crayon art.

Melt & Mold

This is one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Crayola Experience. You get to choose a mold that you want to make your crayon into and watch the entire process of creating a unique crayon molded into the shape of your kid’s choice.

There is someone who assists you with this process of choosing your mold and helping you create your new crayon!

Even if you choose one color for your mold, there is previously melted crayon in the machine that will create a marbled finished crayon.

My son chose the car mold and my daughter chose the ring mold (surprise, surprise!).

There are different stations so multiple kids can have their molds made at the same time. It’s such a fascinating process to watch!

Here is her final ring! It’s hard to see in the photo since it matches the background color, but she was so happy to wear it!

Cool Moves

Your kids’ movements can cause crayons to dance! Once my son figured out that his movements changed the crayon on the screen, he had a lot of fun moving around.

Modeling Madness

A token (included with your ticket) can be used at the Modeling Madness vending machines. One token will get you a pack of colored model magic that your kids can use to mold something from it.

My son chose to create a little bear, modeled after the bear stuffie toy in the photo.

Rainbow Rain

This Rainbow Rain section was fun for my kids as their movement around the area created different colorful rain patterns on the screen. It’s a motion-controlled interactive area that had my kids dancing and running back and forth many times.

Sribble Scrubbies

You get 1 free Scribble Scrubbie with your admission. Go to Scribble Square to get your Scribble Scrubbie, a washable pet!

Your kids can go to the tables and color them with washable markers.

My kids were focused and had fun coloring their scrubbies.

Once your kids are done, they can go to the washing station to wash them off.

Once they are dry, they can color them all over again!

Then, they can pose at this bathtub cutout for some photos!

Kaleidoscope

Stand in front of the Kaleidoscope art maker and become part of the art! You can even email yourself a copy of the art created.

Toddler Town & Scribble Square

Toddler Town is meant for toddlers, but it doesn’t mean you have to be a toddler to enjoy it. Both my kids spent some time here exploring the peg board and writing on the chalkboard at Scribble Square.

More Activities…

There’s so much more to explore than what I’ve mentioned here, including a 2-story playground for the little ones, Color Magic, Adventure Lab, Activity Studio, and more.

What age is best for Crayola Experience?

Crayola Experience is best for younger kids, but depending on your child and their interests, older kids may enjoy this place too. With different interactive areas and attractions, if it’s your first time, creating your own custom crayon and coloring page can be a fun experience for anyone.

Ages 2 and under are free, so the really young ones may not be able to participate in everything, but there is a Toddler Town and playground they can play in. I’d say this experience is best for age 3-10, but you know your child best, so they may be 12 and love it! There are enough interactive spaces for everyone to try.

How long does it take to go through Crayola Experience?

A typical trip to Crayola Experience will be 3-4 hours, but it can be a shorter trip if you skip some of the attractions or if you’re coming back on a repeat visit.

Is there food at Crayola Experience?

Yes, there is Cafe Crayola, Snack Shack, and Sweet Shop. We stopped by the cafe for some chicken fingers and fries for the kids.

Take note that due to staffing issues, the Cafe Crayola may not be open on specific days, but you can grab a bag of chips or grab-and-go hot foods at Snack Shack, which is open every day.

If you’re an annual passholder, you can get 20% off any food or drink purchase.

Our kids loved posing with the different characters behind them after they were done with their meal.

We had a fun day doing a variety of activities at Crayola Experience in Plano. There were a variety of interactive screens where kids could interact with what was on the screen. It was so fun to watch!

There are so many areas to keep kids engaged and so many other areas to play in that I haven’t covered here.

You can see the full map of Crayola Experience if you want to see it all!

The Crayola Store

It was finally time to leave, but it’s not over yet! There’s a lot of fun products to explore in the Crayola store. It may be a bit difficult to leave without buying a few things.

We bought a couple of Crayola tins and let the kids choose marker colors to fill their container. Who can resist all that color!

Character Appearances

A Crayon Character may make an appearance from time to time. Check the Crayola Experience website for scheduled events.

Special Offers

Be sure to check specific locations for special offers.

So, Is Crayola Experience Worth It?

If your kids love coloring, making molds, modeling clay, or interacting with interactive screens, I’d say yes. This place is geared more for younger children, which makes the annual pass worth it if you need a place to take young kids again and again. It’s especially worth it if you purchase an Annual Pass to get more than one trip from your purchase.

Even if you don’t participate in all the attractions on your return visit, toddlers and younger kids can use the playground and toddler area while you take a rest. I saw many parents doing just that when we were there.

Just note that not all attractions may be running at the time of your visit. When we visited, the playground was closed (since it was that era of masks). Some attractions may not be staffed or operating at all times, but there should be enough to keep your kids entertained!

There are also different events on the calendar that change each month, so be sure to check out the calendar of events so you can plan your trip accordingly.

Even though we’ve been to Crayola Experience multiple times, I plan to take them again so they can have fun before they outgrow it entirely!
