Why a Personalized Video Book Gift is the Best Gift

In case you’re not sure what a video book is, let me explain.
What is a Video Book?
A video book is a physical book that has a screen on the inside of the book that plays a video automatically when it is opened. You can create a custom video to play inside by uploading video clips and photos to a video maker and selecting your background music. Then, you can choose a cover and order your video book.
How Does a Video Book Work?
When you order the video book, the video montage you created will auto-play in the book when it is opened by the recipient.
The video book comes already charged, so when you open the video book, it will start playing the video, which is so nice! No need to worry about charging the rechargeable battery before you gift it!
The video is played on a high-definition screen. There is a USB-C charger that comes with it, so that you can charge it when the battery dies. The battery is long-lasting, so you’ll be able to play the video again and again before you need to recharge it.
The packaging shown here is the basic packaging, but you can upgrade it for $12 to have a white box and bow added to it, hiding the book when you initially open the cardboard box.
At the bottom of the book, there’s a charging port and speaker holes for the video.
On the right side of the book, there are buttons that allow you to play/pause, forward, rewind, and change the volume of the video. This is super handy if you want to rewatch a part of the video without starting over!
Can I choose my own cover?
When you use VidDay to create your video book, there are 17 different covers to choose from.
I chose a nice pink cover (as seen above) for the book I plan to give my sister, and a blue Happy Birthday cover for my father-in-law’s book. I created a video montage for them as a previous gift a few years ago, but I’m planning on giving them these books as a present this year during the holidays.
Since it’s been a few years, they probably don’t remember what was in the video, so this is such a great way to give the same gift in a different form, making it easy for them to access it so they can watch it again and again!

What Size Does the Video Book Come In?
I took a photo of the video book from VidDay with a ruler so that you can see the size in inches and centimeters. It’s about 6.5 inches (17cm) square. It’s a small book, making it easy to hold and store away.
How do you create the video for the video book?
VidDay has an easy-to-use video maker that you can use to create your video. All you need to do is upload all the videos and photos you’d like to add to create your own video montage. You can have friends and family add to it, too. Once uploaded, all the media can be dragged and placed in the order you want. Choose your background music and finalize it so that the video can render.
Do video books need WiFi or the internet to play?
There is no need for WiFi or any internet connection. The video is uploaded directly to the book, so it will play wherever you are. You can be camping in the middle of nowhere with the gift, and it will still work!
How much does a personalized video book cost?
The price of a video book is $79.99 with free shipping in the U.S.
Some things to note about shipping:
- International shipping, including Canada, is a flat $20 USD.
- Video books are delivered within 5 to 7 business days in the U.S. International delivery times may be different.
You can have the video book shipped to you so that you can give the gift in person to see their reaction, or you can ship it directly to the person you’re making the video book gift for.
So, Are Video Books Worth It?
Video books are such a unique gift. If you’re looking for a personalized gift, you can’t beat a custom video montage that can be played over and over again just by opening a book.
Had I known they existed sooner, I’m sure I would have given many more throughout my life!
In my opinion, the emotional reaction you get to see as you give the gift is completely worth it. If you’re trying to give a gift for someone who has everything, or for someone who is downsizing or decluttering, this is the perfect gift since it doesn’t get in the way of their decluttering goals. Both my sister and my father-in-law have been actively decluttering, so this is a great gift for them. They always appreciate gifts from the heart, and a personalized video playing in a book is something they’d never expect.
I think the best part of a video book gift is that, although the gift is technically digital, you can wrap the physical video book to give so that your loved ones can receive something in their hands. They’ll never know that they’re receiving a video as their gift until they open it. What a surprise!
